Ramona Lisa Ortiz-Smith, MBA
During this meditation class participants will be offered a basic understanding of what it means to meditate and how to incorporate a basic practice into their daily lives. Ramona Lisa will talk briefly about her path to meditation through dance as well as offer a brief description of the tradition she currently practices. Following the introduction there will be at least 20 minutes of guided silent meditation practice followed by questions and responses. All are welcome. No meditation experience required.
Ramona Lisa Ortiz-Smith, MBA, has been practicing meditation for more than 25 years. She has been formally studying the Dharma and sitting silent Vipassana meditation retreats in the Theravada tradition for the past 12 years. Ramona Lisa is a Dance Theatre of Harlem (DTH) alumnae whose tenure spanned 1984 – 1993. While with DTH, she trained, taught, performed and toured internationally with the Company and Workshop Ensemble. Once a dedicated dance artist, Ramona Lisa is now dedicated to the Dharma and meditation practice. She is a graduate of East Bay Meditation Center’s (EBMC) Commit to Dharma Program (C2D3) and Spirit Rock Meditation Center’s (SRMC) Dedicated Practitioners Program (DPP6). Ramona Lisa has served as a Retreat Manager and Community Welcome Leader at Spirit Rock where she has supported other practitioners during their retreat experience as well as held meditation sitting groups. She is currently a Visiting Teacher at EBMC, serves on the leadership board and teaches for the Mills College Love and Liberation Sangha. Ramona Lisa is known for her dedication to customer service, support and love for the Dharma. She is passionate about her service as a freelance Retreat Manager, Dharma Leader, Meditation Teacher, Writer and Executive Administrator.
