Upper School
The School of Dance Theatre of Harlem is committed to quality ballet training. Students in the Upper School are placed according to proficiency and are given the opportunity to present their work before an audience at the end of each semester, with a Holiday Show in the winter, and an Annual Spring Performance in late Spring. Students who have reached the required proficiency level may be invited to participate in the Sunday Matinee performances, annual Galas, and community events.
UPPER SCHOOL
LEVELS 5 THROUGH 8
This program offers after-school ballet training for dance students based on the DTH ballet curriculum. In the Upper School, the rigor of training gradually increases, and lays the groundwork for those aspiring to a professional dance career, and/or a serious collegiate dance program. At this level, we foster individual development, discipline, creativity and high self-esteem while being a part of the DTH community.
These classes provide further study and practice of ballet technique with greater emphasis on development of elevation, ballon, batterie, suppleness, aplomb, pointe work for levels 7 & 8 and more challenging movement phrases. Students study jazz as well.
Classes run weeknights between 5:00pm EST – 8:00pm EST.
