SUPPORT A PROGRAM
DTH’s various programs are supported by three funds:
FUND FOR ARTISTIC EXCELLENCE
This fund supports general operations, the Company, commission projects; archives and preservation; traveling exhibits; new media and technology; and related artistic initiatives.
NEXT GENERATION FUND
Each year, this fund provides up to 65% of our participants full scholarships or significant financial aid valued at more than $325,000. This fund supports our Support A Young Artist initiative as well as a dancer identification effort through our National Audition Tour; the School’s annual public performances; its “Whole Dancer” curriculum, and Healthy Dancers Health Families Initiative. The School presently serves over 500 students and their families annually.
COMMUNITY ENGAGEMENT FUND
This fund enables Dance Theatre of Harlem to provide year-round education services to public schools and after school programs within New York City and the tri-state area through its Dancing Through Barriers® arts education and community outreach program. The fund supports program activities such as multi-week in-school residencies; School-Time performances; after school programs; free or low-cost family and neighborhood classes; our monthly Sunday Matinée performances, Thursdays@DTH open rehearsals; the Summer Street Festival and related community engagement activities throughout the year.
